Polish-ing EuropeanaLocal
Just back from the ‘mid-term’ plenary meeting of the EuropeanaLocal project which was held at Polish Academy of Science in university city of Poznan in Poland.
The main purpose of such meetings is to give partners in the project who are not work package leaders an opportunity to get more involved. In addition to discussing topics covering administration and progress of the project, on the first day we had presentations on:
· What is ‘cooking’ at Europeana – How the Europeana service and content is developing through contributing projects.
· Technology and timing – Technical challenges, implementation plan and support instruments and options.
· The Role of the Aggregators – including examples from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Serbia and Turkey.
· The ‘Advance Guard’ – Case studies from partner regions showing good progress e.g. UK (from me), Poland, Norway and Belgium (Flanders)
· Evaluation activities – this included a demonstration of Event Log which allows the project to keep track of progress in ingesting material into Europeana.
The second day was a technical workshop covering various topics related to getting content into Europeana. In the case of UK material the route to Europeana is via the Culture Grid see:
