Surveying Standards in European Museums
For the last few days I have been designing a survey for the ATHENA project. The aim is to get a picture of the standards landscape in European museums.
The museums surveyed are those which have offered their digital content to the Europeana site. We will be looking at the following areas:
- Digital object metadata;
- Information schemes and metadata;
- Intellectual property rights (including copyright);
- Geographic name terminology and co-ordinate standards;
- Date format and time Period terminology;
- Subject terminology;
- Person and organisation terminology.
The results of the survey will appear in a series of reports for the European Commission and wil be made public later this year.
The results will also inform the rest of the project and will help in the development of Europeana itself.
