ATHENA Project Begins Today
Today sees the official start of the European Commission (EC) funded project ATHENA - Access to cultural heritage networks across Europe.
ATHENA is part of a ‘cluster’ projects under the general ‘banner’ of Europeana. Europeana is the public facing service with the cluster projects will be feeding content from various sources and different types.
ATHENA was developed to specifically tackle the gap in existing content provision to Europeana. It is targeted at museums and audiovisual archives, and aims to support them to make their digital content part of Europeana
ATHENA has the following workpackages:
- WP1 - Project management, monitoring and evaluation;
- WP2 - Awareness and dissemination: enlarging the network and promoting the service;
- WP3 - Identifying standards and developing recommendations;
- WP4 - Integration of existing data structure into Europeana;
- WP5 - Coordination of contents;
- WP6 - Analysis of IPR issues and definition of possible solutions;
- WP7 - Development of plug-in to be integrated within Europeana.
We are the leader of WP2 and again we have to work in all, but one (WP4), of the other WPs.
